At a press conference this morning a number of details of the forthcoming James Bond film were revealed. Known until now only as Bond 23 the title has been confirmed as Skyfall – not sure yet what I think of the title, but then I liked Quantum of Solace and no-one else in the world seemed to so perhaps I’m not the best judge of Bond titles. Daniel Craig is returning as Bond….
More Les Mis Casting News
I breathed a massive sigh of relief this morning when I read that Eddie Redmayne has been cast as Marius in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. Not because I’m a big fan of his, in fact I know nothing about him although he has a strong theatrical background which is encouraging. No – my sigh of relief was entirely due to the fact that Nick Jonas hadn’t won the role…..
JK Rowling admits that Ron Weasley nearly died….
The final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on 2nd December. Great timing for Christmas presents – if anyone can wait the 23 days to see it. One of the special features on the disk is an interview of JK Rowling by Daniel Radcliffe in which she admits that while she always intended that the three main characters would survive, there was a time when she seriously considered killing off Ron….
The Muppets Final Parody Trailer
If the new Muppets movie is half as good as its marketing then it’s going to be brilliant. I’ve loved the trailers that have been coming out over the past couple of months and I’m really quite excited about the film itself. Jason Segal is a sweetie and Amy Adams is possibly the most adorable actress working today – the pair seem to be a perfect fit for a Muppets film. Disney have released the final parody trailer ….
Tower Heist Trailer
When I attended the Empire Big Screen event earlier this year one of the exclusive trailers shown was for the new Eddie Murphy/Ben Stiller comedy Tower Heist about a group of good guys who decide to rob the rich banker who stole their pension funds….
Bald Monkeys 48 Hour Project Success
Anything Melbourne can do, Glasgow can do better. Following my recent review of The Ballad of Des and Mo, a feature film made in just 72 hours, I heard about a project for film-makers in Glasgow which challenged them to conceive and make a short film in just 48 hours for showing at the Glasgow Film Theatre. The project was a great success with more than 40 entries which were met with great acclaim by audience members including industry professionals scouting for new talent. A number of films garnered project awards including the prize for Best Special Effects which was won by Tu Regalo (Your Gift). Tu Regalo was created by Bald Monkeys, led by David Brodie….
How To Become A Criminal Mastermind Trailer
One of the great things about the rise of social media is that it allows smaller authors and filmmakers the opportunity to promote their work without relying on big-budget publicity campaigns. I’m always keeping a look out for news of new books and films that might otherwise fall below the radar….
The Avengers Trailer
I wasn’t fussed about the forthcoming Avengers film, the latest in Marvel Comic’s series of adaptations until I saw Captain America. I loved it and think it was one of the best blockbusters of summer 2011. Then I discovered that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon was writing and directing. I was sold, this looked like the film to beat next year. The first trailer has now been released…
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Trailer
It’s been a few years since I read Jonathan Safran Foer’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. It’s a book that I enjoyed while reading, but it hasn’t particularly stayed with me. I read it, liked it, moved on. It had totally left my radar until I saw the trailer….
J. Edgar Trailer
We’re now well into the back half of the year and it’s time for the Oscar contenders to start rearing their heads and making their pitches for glory. Clint Eastwood’s latest assault on the Academy is J. Edgar…
