I’ve seen this post on a number of great book blogs recently and though I haven’t actually been specifically tagged to take part, I’m going to have my say anyway. My TBR (to be read) pile currently stands at an impressive (and terrifying given how slowly I read) 237 books. I’m pretty sure it’s never been that high before and it’s clearly time for another moratorium on acquiring books.
1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I have an Excel spreadsheet which I keep up to date with all the books I’ve still to read. I’ve started adding the dates I receive the books and how I’ve received them. I’ve also got a spreadsheet for the books that I’ve read in the year and how I’ve rated them.
2. Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?
More print and mostly paperback, although I do have 99 unread books on my Kindle at the moment.
3. A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest
I honestly don’t know, it’s only in the past few months that I’ve added the date I receive books to my spreadsheet. There are books that I’ve had for years that I’ve just not got to yet.
4. A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR
The most recent book on my TBR list was received on 19th November and is Alone in the Dark by Karen Rose, I received this from Headline and it does look fantastic.
5. A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because of Its Beautiful Cover
I genuinely don’t judge a book by its cover, unless the cover is really ugly. I think my favourite recent cover though is Carrying Albert Home – it looks really different and good fun.
6. A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading
A tough one because I really do want to read every book I own. When I first bought my Kindle I did download a lot of cheap and free books because they looked ok. I’m not sure how long it will take me round to books like Spying in High Heels, or the mound of classics I thought it was time I read.
7. An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You’re Excited For
Quite a few, but The One In A Million Boy and Shtum are probably the ones I’m looking forward to most.
8. A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You
I’m not sure, I’ve seen a lot of great reviews of Ruth Ware’s In a Dark, Dark Wood so do feel a bit left out with that one.
9. A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You
I’m don’t think that there is one on there that lots of people have recommended to me, but Danny the Champion of the World is my husband’s favourite book from childhood so I’ll go with that.
10. A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read
About 200 out of the 237. At the moment though the ones I’m most looking forward to are The Silent Dead by Clare McGowan and After You Die by Eva Dolan.
11. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
I don’t have a Goodreads TBR shelf. I drift in and out of Goodreads, but have never quite taken to it. I keep thinking I should get into it properly, but that just seems like too much effort.
