A trailer has been released for A Means of Escape Joanna Price’s great debut novel which I reviewed a couple of weeks ago. I’ve noticed that trailers – once the domain of the movie industry – are now becoming more and more widespread across a range of arts.
Delfont Mackintosh have also been using trailers on their Facebook page to appeal to theatre-goers. Shows which now have their own trailer include Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Mamma Mia.
I’d love to know your opinion. Will a trailer make you more likely to read a book or go to see a show Let me know in the comments.
Book trailers are a great idea as it serves mulltiple purposes, firstly in the mobile app generation publishers can reach people on the move, via push marketing, who could then instantly download on to kindle.
Secondly, it beautifully sets the scene to capture the film and or TV rights…….. DS Kate Linton could easily be held in the same affection as Morse, should she develop further in the next two books.
