Bond 23 Starts Filming Today

At a press conference this morning a number of details of the forthcoming James Bond film were revealed.  Known until now only as Bond 23 the title has been confirmed as Skyfall – not sure yet what I think of the title, but then I liked Quantum of Solace and no-one else in the world seemed to so perhaps I’m not the best judge of Bond titles.  Daniel Craig is returning as Bond with Dame Judi Dench also back as M.  Other confirmed cast members include Javier Bardem as the villain of the piece, Naomie Harris as Eve, a field agent (or is Eve Miss Moneypenny’s Christian name?), Albert Finney, Helen McCrory and Berenice Marlohe.  The plot is still very much under wraps but the official synopsis hints that “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”

Filming starts today and with such a brilliant cast and director Sam Mendes on board this promises to be one of the best-acted and story-led Bonds ever.  I hope they don’t forget the action and gadgets amongst all the thespianism though.

I was brought up on Bond, my dad is a big fan and has passed on his love of the character to me.  I’m already excited about the new film and I’m looking forward to finding out more as filming progresses.
