Awards season is fast approaching, the Golden Globes ceremony is only a few days away and excitement is building in Hollywood. I’ll admit it, excitement is building here too. I love this time of year, I know it’s ridiculous and simply rich people slapping each other on the back but I enjoy it a lot. Of course the culmination of awards season is the Academy Awards. This year’s ceremony has already had its share of bad luck losing producer Brett Ratner and host Eddie Murphy in quick succession following homophobic remarks by Ratner.
The Academy decided that they had to play it safe and turned to celebrated host Billy Crystal to rescue the event and are very much using him as the selling point for this year’s ceremony, recently releasing their first trailer.
