When I first watched and reviewed Pitch Perfect I wasn’t blown away by it. I liked it, I thought it was a lot of fun but I didn’t love it. In the three years since it was released I’ve seen it a few more times and become something of a fan. It’s easy viewing, cheerful…
The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
One of the films I’ve enjoyed most in the past few years is The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The story of a group of old people who go to live in India was genuinely heart-warming and blessed with a fabulous cast of the best of British acting talent including Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith…
Monsters University
It’s summer here in the UK, actual proper summer. There’s sun and everything. So how am I spending the hottest days in Britain in years? In beautifully air conditioned cinemas of course. I’m not a sun-seeker, I have very fair skin and once burned under a normal kitchen light…
The Avengers 2 Gets A Release Date
After the news last week that Joss Whedon would be returning to write and direct The Avengers 2, Walt Disney Studios and Marvel have gone one step further and announced that the sequel to this year’s superhero behemoth would be released…
Iron Man 2
It’s coming excitingly close to the opening of superhero supermovie Avengers Assemble and I’ve been preparing by catching up with the series so far. As I wrote a couple of months back, I wasn’t massively enamoured of the first Iron Man film…
Ghostbusters 3 – are we going to call them?
Dan Aykroyd is still hopeful that Ghostbusters 3 will be made. He seems confident that the third installment will start filming in Spring next year. This film will apparently feature new, younger Ghostbusters taking on the mantle of protector against all things ectoplasmic from the original stars, although Aykroyd still isn’t sure if Bill Murray will be involved with the new film.
Yet another Bridget Jones film given the go-ahead
EW is reporting that Working Title has confirmed a third Bridget Jones film is in the pipeline. The film promises more tension between Bridget and Mark Darcy and another romp with Daniel Cleaver. I really enjoyed the first film but I found the second instalment frustrating. How much more of Bridget’s pathetic, whiny, self-indulgent bleating can we put up with? I doubt I’ll be rushing to see this one.
Die Hard 5 – Really?
Rumours about a fifth installment in the Die Hard franchise have been whizzing around for a while. This week it seems that Max Payne director John Moore is the latest favourite to helm the new chapter which is apparently taking place in Russia. Another rumour from Total Film is that Adam Buxton who directed Attack the Block is also in the frame.
I love Die Hard – it’s one of my favourite films of all time, but this just sounds a little Mission to Moscow for my liking. Maybe it’s time for Bruce to retire gracefully as everyone’s number one NYPD detective?
